This community of K-12 educators, youth, community leaders, NMSU faculty, and even a baby – collaborated in 2021-2022 to develop Units and Lessons that are southern New Mexico place-based, culturally and linguistically relevant, and necessary to make the New Mexico Social Studies curriculum more complete.

BEST department receives federal funding for curriculum project

New Mexico State University’s Department of Borderlands and Ethnic Studies has been awarded $170,000 in congressional funding to enhance K-12 social studies curricula. This initiative aims to create a more inclusive environment for students in southern New Mexico.
